Privacy policy
What personal data VolunThreads processes, why, for how long and what your rights are. In short: as little as possible, and tracking only with your consent.
Effective 24 October 2026. On this site we try to know as little about you as possible. We use measuring and advertising tools only with your consent, sell no data, and count basic visits without cookies and without personal data. Below is exactly what we process when you choose to get in touch with us.
In short
- Tracking only with consent: measuring and advertising tools load only once you allow them in the bar; without consent the site works exactly the same. No social networks embedded in pages, fonts and scripts served from our own server.
- Newsletter: only your e-mail and language, confirmed by e-mail, one-click unsubscribe.
- Contact: what you write to us, so that we can reply.
- Your rights: you can ask at any time what we know about you and ask us to correct or delete it.
Who processes your data
The controller of your personal data is Tomáš Ulrich, a sole trader registered in the Czech Trade Register, company ID (IČO) 09307001. For anything about your data, write to email@volunthreads.com.
What we process and why
Newsletter
When you subscribe, we store your e-mail address, the language of the site and the date you signed up. The subscription starts only after you click the link in the confirmation e-mail, so nobody can sign you up without your knowledge. We do not track whether you open the e-mails or what you click, and we do not store your IP address.
- Legal basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
- How long: until you unsubscribe. Every e-mail has an unsubscribe link.
- Where: the list lives on our own website, not with a marketing company.
Contact form
When you write to us, we store your name (if you give it), the e-mail address for our reply, the topic, the subject and your message, and the language you wrote in. The message is saved in the site’s administration and also arrives in our mailbox. For spam protection we keep, for one minute, only an irreversible fingerprint of your IP address and e-mail, to stop bulk sending; the IP address itself is not stored.
- Legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering your question.
- How long: while we deal with it, then at most two years, unless the conversation needs to be kept longer (for example to handle a complaint).
User account
Registration will be useful once the shop opens. When you register, we store your e-mail and password (the password only in encrypted form; nobody can see it). Later you can add a delivery address to your account.
- Legal basis: contract, that is, running your account.
- How long: until you close the account. Just ask us by e-mail.
Orders (once the shop opens)
For a purchase we will need your name, delivery and billing address, e-mail, possibly a phone number, and the order details. We pass them only to those who need them to fulfil the order: the producer who prints and ships it, the carrier and the payment provider.
- Legal basis: performance of the contract and legal obligations (accounting and tax).
- How long: as long as the law requires for accounting and tax records, usually 10 years.
Visit statistics
We count only totals, such as how many people read which guide and where they came from. We use Koko Analytics, which runs on our own server, sets no cookies, stores no IP addresses and does not recognize individual visitors. Nobody can be identified from these numbers.
Server logs
Our hosting provider (Active24 / Websupport, servers in the EU) keeps short-term technical logs with IP addresses for the security and operation of the server. We also back up the site regularly; backups may contain the data above and are used only to restore the site after a failure.
Donations
If you support us, the payment goes through the service you choose (bank, PayPal, a donation platform or a crypto wallet). We see only what that service shows us: for a bank transfer usually the amount, the account number and the account holder’s name; for crypto only the amount and the address. Bitcoin and most crypto transactions are permanently public on the blockchain. We keep these records as long as the law requires for accounting.
What stays only in your browser
Some features remember your choices only in your browser (localStorage) and never send them to our server: your reading progress through the guides, the name on your diploma, day or night mode, and your quiz result (which lives only in the link you may choose to share). You can remove them by clearing the site’s data in your browser settings.
Cookies
We sort cookies into three groups:
- Necessary, always on: pll_language remembers the language you chose and vt_consent your choice in the cookie bar (both last a year). Logging in or shopping adds cookies for the login and the cart. They say nothing about you and track nothing.
- Statistics, only with consent: more detailed visit measurement, such as Google Analytics.
- Marketing, only with consent: measuring which ads bring people to the shop, such as Google Ads or Meta Pixel.
Statistics and marketing tools load only after you allow them in the bar at the bottom of the page; until then your browser sends them nothing. Saying no limits nothing. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a no and do not show you the bar. You can change your choice at any time with “Cookie settings” in the footer; after a year we ask again. The tools we currently use are always listed in the bar’s settings. At the moment we use none, which is why the bar does not appear.
Links to other sites
The share buttons (X, Facebook, Telegram) are plain links: no data reaches those networks unless you click them. Some partner links are affiliate links and are marked as such. If you click one, the partner may use its own cookies on its website under its own policy; we receive no personal data about you from them. Our server fetches the bitcoin price from CoinGecko without any data about you.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- know what data we process about you and get a copy,
- ask us to correct inaccurate data,
- ask us to delete it when we no longer need it or you have withdrawn consent,
- ask us to restrict processing, and object to processing based on legitimate interest,
- receive your data in a machine-readable form (portability),
- withdraw your consent at any time, for example by unsubscribing from the newsletter.
Just write to email@volunthreads.com. We will reply without undue delay, at the latest within one month. If you are not satisfied with us, you can complain to the Czech data protection authority, Úřad pro ochranu osobních údajů (www.uoou.gov.cz).
Without your consent we do not transfer your data outside the European Union. If you allow statistics or marketing tools, their operators (such as Google or Meta) may process data in the United States under their own policies. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for automated decision-making ourselves. If this policy changes, we will publish the new version on this page with its effective date.
